It is recommended to take the supplement with/after food everyday with water. One of the main reasons it is recommended to take multivitamins with food is that this increases your body's ability to absorb many nutrients.
Having a good overall diet may be healthy but it does not ensure you that you are consuming every vital nutrient at the optimal amount. Taking Centrum multivitamins everyday ensures that you are bridging any nutritional gap in your diet.

Although the act of crushing the tablet will not adversely impact the ingredients directly, crushing or splitting the tablets will expose the active ingredients to a greater surface area for potential degradation hence the tablet will degrade much more quickly.
